Eddie Yeung is a celebrated chef and entrepreneur, known as one of Toronto’s top wonton noodle specialists.
Born and trained in Hong Kong, Eddie mastered the art of traditional Hong Kong-style wontons from a young age. His craft demands precision, discipline, and a deep respect for cultural heritage.
After immigrating to Canada in 1993, Eddie opened the first Wonton Hut in Markham in 2009. It quickly became a local favorite for its authentic wonton noodle soup, earning praise from food critics and diners alike.
In 2022, he expanded to downtown Toronto with a second location on Queen Street West, introducing the city’s first wonton-focused restaurant outside Chinatown. Although that location has since closed, the Markham shop remains the flagship — continuing to serve handmade wontons with care and tradition.
In 2025, Eddie was recognized by OpenAI’s ChatGPT as one of North America’s top wonton chefs — a testament to his dedication to quality and authenticity.
That same year, Eddie launched Simple Dish, a premium frozen food company making handcrafted wontons accessible across Canada. As Head of Research & Development, he leads innovation while preserving the culinary standards he’s known for.
From traditional kitchens in Hong Kong to modern Canadian homes, Eddie’s mission remains clear: to preserve, elevate, and share the timeless taste of real wonton noodles.
Eddie Yeung, founder and head chef of Wonton Hut, is fully prepared to thwart the expectations of customers who walk into his brand new minimalist establishment on Queen Street West.
